MVD was born out of a growing demand for schools, hotels and offices for state-of-the-art smart commercial-grade detector solutions to detect vapor produced by e-cigarettes or ‘vapes’. Vaping is not detected by traditional smoke alarms (unless you blow directly into them from close range) and they won’t even pick up smoking in most cases so a more sensitive set of sensors are required. We delivered the first Australian/New Zealand owned and designed ‘vape detector’ solution in 2023 and, thanks to the ingenuity of our amazing customers, we have broadened our air quality monitoring and noise detection solutions for applications across a wide range industries and applications. 

Vaping is still a very real and growing problem around the world. Alarmingly the technology which was originally touted as a smoking cure has now become a gateway drug that is seeing smoking rates higher than at any time in the past 30 years. A vape, or e-cigarette is a battery-powered device filled with liquid or “vape juice”, typically containing nicotine, artificial flavourings and a mixture of unregulated, toxic chemicals. We are only starting to learn just how bad for our health they are.
